When you have a friend in town for just a day, where do you take them to show them the best of Richmond? Not everyone's into Warhol or window shopping. But Maymont, the Dooleys' old estate next to Byrd Park, is guaranteed to delight. If your guest is gaga for the Gilded Age, do the mansion tour. If she's into nature, roam the Japanese and Italian gardens. Or if your visitors are young, go watch the otters play and pet the goats (not the bears). Nowhere else in Richmond does 100 acres feel so enormous.
