There was a bumper sticker that once captured the spirit of the place best: “The Fan: Preserved and Unreserved.” But the nation’s largest neighborhood of contiguous historic houses isn’t frozen in time. It is a place of jaw-dropping beauty in the autumn when its maples turn yellows and reds and at Christmas when its residents decorate — or any season for that matter.
