“Country music lends itself to community and pride in community,” says Garret Doll, program director at K95. “We’ve been around so long that the younger generation that listens now grew up hearing it because their parents were listening too.” While the country format used be all about the twang, Doll says, these days it overlaps with other genres. “You’ve got pop-leaning country like Sam Hunt’s “Body Like a Back Road” song, traditional country like Tim McGraw and country rock like Brantley Gilbert. It’s the most listened-to format in radio across all demographics because everyone finds something they can like.”
