Second Place: Matt Shofner
Third Place (Tie): Evan Nasteff and Scott Wichmann
From his role as Rocky Horror in Firehouse’s “The Rocky Horror Show” to his darkly comic turn as the Emcee in “Cabaret,” Chris Hester has become known for his work in small but powerful roles. Following Hester is Matt Shofner, who recently electrified audiences as the titular character in “Hedwig and the Angry Inch.” Tying for third are Hester’s “Cabaret” colleague Evan Nasteff and the multifaceted Scott Wichmann. Nasteff creates compelling characters like Larry in “Closer” and King Philip in “The Lion in Winter.” Wichmann, who is serving overseas in the Navy, recently won an award from the Richmond Theatre Critics Circle for playing George Burns in the one-man show “Say Goodnight, Gracie.” The headline of Style’s review said it all: “Wichmann Wows.”
