Second Place: Galaxy Diner
Third Place: Don't Look Back
We wouldn't be a real city if we didn't have a place like 3rd Street Diner, which has been serving the folks on their way to a hangover since before 99 percent of its customers were born. When the bars close in the Bottom, there must be a place to go eat — and that place, according to voters, is 3rd Street. Facing a breakfast buffet served from 2-6 a.m., you'd be hard-pressed to stumble into a better way to begin soaking up that booze. The décor isn't much to look at, but who cares at 3 a.m.? If you've been over-indulging a little farther west, readers suggest Galaxy Diner, whose claim to fame is that it's been the top seller of PBR for the past four years. Galaxy also has fried Twinkies, should that hold some late-night appeal. On the same strip is Don't Look Back, and as many people can attest, a Frito pie goes a long way toward not waking up with a pounding head tomorrow. But Galaxy and Don't Look Back can only help you until 2 a.m., so plan your night accordingly.
