Second Place: Lehja

Third Place: Anokha

Lemon Cuisine of India’s rise to the top of Richmond’s Indian offerings in just a few years of business sends a clear signal that it’s doing plenty right. The freshest of ingredients, a menu focusing on traditional Indian dishes from far-flung regions of the country and a likable staff eager to assess each customer’s preference for spice have made this a go-to Indian restaurant for many. Three words for newcomers: masala Bloody Mary. It’s a great introduction to the spice medley that defines this cuisine. Short Pump’s Lehja slides in at second, no doubt a tribute to the handsome dining room, award-winning wine list and creative take on modern Indian. Anokha, just as far out in the ’burbs, debuts on the Best of Richmond with its melding of the flavors and spices of India with modern Western cooking techniques.
