Puritan Cleaners didn't get to be the largest dry cleaning service around by resting on its laurels. Owner Gary Glover says the company continues to experiment with better ways to communicate with customers, including an email notification system that in a recent six-week period let 28,000 people know their dry cleaning was ready for pick-up. But the nearly 80-year-old business isn't heading away from human power, which is what Glover says continues to be the most important part of the business. "Everybody is engaged and excited to be here at work," he says. "We're able to afford the best equipment and best conditions and best benefits for our team members." Family-owned HandCraft Cleaners says that in 40 years it has cleaned everything "from King Henry VIII's robes to team and mascot uniforms." Reviewers say Bill's Cleaners and Laundry in Carytown does a great job on wedding gowns.
