Second Place: Babes of Carytown
Third Place (Tie): Society American Grill & Social Club and the Tobacco Company Club
Everything about Off the Hookah is big. Booming sound system, popular DJs, flashy lights and a dress-to-impress crowd — or at least, a dress-to-get-some-attention crowd. (You’ll have a hard time getting in otherwise.) The combination makes for an experience that feels more Washington than downtown Richmond. Themed parties keep the vibe fresh weekend to weekend, but be warned that the crowds always seem to be at capacity. Get there early to secure one heck of a night. Over in Carytown, Babes has a hot dance party going, spinning the latest club music as well as the inevitable throwback that pulls everyone onto the floor. Saturday night is the best chance for a full house. Society American Grill & Social Club is a relative infant compared with the Tobacco Company Club, but both are heart-pumping draws to Shockoe, ranking as places to get your drink and groove on.
