Second Place: Buttons and Bows
Third Place: Once Upon a Child
Clover came into existence as a children's equivalent of Clementine, which is directly across the street. Much like its sister shop, the Carytown consignment boutique offers an assortment of top brands for both younger and older children at affordable prices, as well as accessories and gifts. "We collect amazing children's clothes from all over Virginia. Parents know they can find a well-edited selection of boutique-quality merchandise at 50 to 70 percent below retail prices," Clover co-owner Lyn Savedge Page says. "Plus, we're locally owned and recently expanded to a larger location in the heart of Carytown, which in my opinion is the best place to shop in Richmond." Consigners receive 50 percent of the sale. The family-owned Buttons and Bows on Parham Road has been part of the Richmond scene for 20 years. It offers not only clothing, including casual wear, formal wear and sportswear, but also shoes, baby gifts, toys and dolls. The Richmond branch of the Once Upon a Child consignment chain, located in the West End (all branches are independently owned and operated), offers new and gently used brand-name children's clothing along with toys, furniture and books. Although the store's website cautions that it's "always a good idea to call us to find about what we buy," it pays on the spot.
