Critics' Pick

Squashapenny Junction, named for owner Suzanne Fleet’s habit of putting pennies on train tracks as a child, has an off-the-beaten-path feel despite being next to a rail line at 10570 Doswell Road. Inside, you’ll find thousands of items as wide-ranging as 100-year-old dolls and signs for long-forgotten goods. While it’s well worth the 25-mile drive up Interstate 95, make sure you note the limited hours, Saturday-Monday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
