On a recent Monday the staff was nearly nude and the blow-up dolls were 20-percent off. Taboo, the adult entertainment novelty store, goes out of its way to offer customers more bang for the buck, says the shop's owner, Alison Barber. And yes, although employees aren't technically naked on naked Mondays — they wear lingerie — business is hopping. Barber just opened a second location on eastern Midlothian Turnpike and has plans for a third in Short Pump. The shop carries such wide-ranging merchandise as adult-movie DVDs, lingerie and bondage gear. "I don't think there's any point in denying that people in Richmond enjoy sex and enjoy adult toys and adult entertainment," Barber says. "It's time that we embrace it." Priscilla McCall's has three stores in the Richmond area, including one in Colonial Heights. The chain caters to "customers wishing to enhance a current relationship," according to its website. Kiss and Make-up, on Patterson Avenue, opened in 1984. It offers a small, comfortable environment and also specializes in lingerie and "relationship enhancement."
