Re: “Deejay Gray, 25

I'm Augustin J Correro. I spent five years in Richmond, sometimes as an actor, other times as a director, playwright, and sometimes a teacher. In all the time I spent in Richmond, in all the different hats, I can say with certainty--sorry if this comes as a slight to any of my other collaborators--I never dealt with an artist as dedicated, talented, and visionary as Deejay Gray. Make no mistake: TheatreLab is the crown jewel of Richmond theatre. Drawing from the greatest established talents already in the community and creating opportunities for the up-and-comings, the work that Deejay and Annie Colpitts do is incredibly valuabe to this generation and all future generations of Richmond theatre.
I have no stake my defense of Deejay. I think he's a great artist and a wonderful guy, but if some small-minded troll wants to assail Chris or Nick, or anyone else for coming to Deejay's defense for personal gain, I'm here to say that everything they have said is spot-on. I've given Deejay's social media a once-over, and there's nothing I've found that's remotely repugnant. "Morally", I'm just confused--is it an issue because he's campy? Because he's quippy? Because he's smarter than a lot of people and that hurts some people's feelings (I'm lookin' at you, "James")?
Now, if you just don't AGREE with the content of Deejay's posts, you're entitled to that. But I'll propose three steps toward resolving that problem for yourself and for all of us: First, accept that Deejay is a sovereign adult who can do as he wishes on his own time. Second, don't visit his personal page anymore if it causes you such distress. Third, slither back into your dungeon with your undeserved sense of superiority and maybe never come out again.
