Moderated by associate professor of music Andy McGraw, Kronos Quartet will discuss and feature an excerpt of Maduswara by visiting Fulbright artist scholar Peni Candra Rini. This new composition, which will be performed by the Kronos later this month at Carnegie Hall, is a contemporary interpretation of the traditional Indonesian vocal style, Sindhen, which was written for the Kronos as part of their ambitious 50 for the Future commissioning project. In addition, the Kronos will talk about their extensive experience commissioning and performing some of the world’s most exciting and revolutionary music.
