Animals at Your Service: How Dogs Have Assisted Americans Both at War and During Peacetime
This free family event will occur at the Eastern Front Unit of Petersburg National Battlefield from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. Included in the day’s programming will be an animal adoption event where dogs presented by the City of Petersburg and Prince George County Animal Shelters will be available for adoption. The day also launches the park’s “Bark Ranger” program which encourages dogs to visit National Park Service sites with their humans. A special tag for dog collars can be earned when a promise is made to “Bag waste”, “Always wear a leash”, “Respect Wildlife”, and “Know where you can go."
