Re: “Last Call For The Viceroy

Jj...please just stop. Your points are not on point. Cheers to you and your negativity. Stop berating me with ignorance. This is not the forum to do so. Ps. I have exquisite taste, and I'm faulting the community as a whole for not realizing this was a great place. Stop taking it personal. If any buisness fails, its usually due to lack of support. My comment was based on that fact. The community did not support it. That is the factor I find dissapointing, as I found this establishment worthy of supporting. I have no bias toward the owners and as a museum district resident for over a decade, I was very put out that they were changing the dive bar, anyone can play, live music scene. However, my thoughts changed when I saw the renovations and spent time there. My point was just that its sad that rva is always content with the mediocre or what style ( no dis to style here ) says you gotta check out. Sometimes you need to actually think for yourselves, and not always be content with pbr, new world wines, crab cakes and oysters, pulled pork and repeats of pandora stations. The places that succeed, quite often, and I don't mean always, are ones that typically do what already has been done, and often lack ambiance, that no one ever seems to notice. The viceroy tried to not be standard. They didn't succeed. That's why I fault richmond. They had a good thing but folks didn't have the curiousity to explore it further. Peace to you, and please stop your negative irrelevant comments. Thanks bunches

Re: “Last Call For The Viceroy

Jj...I'm a tool cause why?? And twelve people agree with that. Sheesh. When I was in Richmond, I went there very frequently. Supported them as much as possible, went every dj night, often for happy hour and brought many new people with me each time. I even posted about them while abroad. If by me leaving rva to explore new worlds and gain more knowledge and experience new challenges and aventures, then yes I'm a tool. Did you even read what I wrote? Your comment means nothing to me, and I'm sad for you that you choose to insult someone personally, when the issue being discussed has nothing to do with me. I was commenting on the fact rva is losing a great place. The reason that happens, is cause people such as yourself, most likely, chose not to support a good thing. They are too busy dissing irrelavant issues and making pedestrian insults rather that experiencing things that are positve.

Re: “Last Call For The Viceroy

I'm so dissapointed in Richmond. Ill be honest, when they took over Cafe Diem and removed the option for live music I was not at all happy. Then I saw what they did with the space I was beyond impressed. It was extremely welcoming, had great lighting, interesting and thoughful artwork and a very chill vibe. I found it to be one of the more enjoyable bars in Richmond to hang out in. The food was always on point, and during happy hours ridiculously affordable. They always played innovative, provacative and appropriate music. Never any unoriginal, pedestrian , uncomfortable boring tunes that everybar seems to share with the same Pandora station. They had REAL djs spinning actual vinyl, like Richard Christopher Tubb , who even played loads of old school Richmond bands, as well as albums you haven't heard in ages. Shame in you RVA for not making this place succeed. Ive been in Nicaragua for several months, so I'm not sure what the hot spot is at the moment , but I'm sure it can not compare to the Viceroy in terms of food, attentive exoerienced staff, vibe that makes you want to stay, and clientele that doesn't make you cringe. So sorry to hear this news. Best to you, Sean, Jo and Dave, please don't sell it to someone who's gonna make a cookie cutter standard place. You guys did an awesome job, and it lets me down that you did not succeed. Yet another reason I left Richmond and moved to a third world country. People appreciate the right things down here. Richmond just wants standard repeats of the same . Come to Nicaragua. Youd be elated an amazed.
