A" Paon at Thanky Space

A lot of times when we listen to music we find ourselves trying to give it some kind of visual equivalent in our heads, associating it with specific colors, memories, locations or scenes. Visual artist GeneviA"ve CastrAce puts this notion to practical use, writing songs that are meant to be a companion to her illustrated work. With a sparse atmospheric delivery regularly sung in French, this Canadian-born songwriter's most recent LP, “Tout Seul,” includes a 60-page book of drawings for listeners to better understand her audible cues. Giving a live performance of this expressionist extension of eyes and ears, CastrAce can be seen with her latest art exhibition, “Some Shit,” playing at Thanky Space on Sunday, April 5, under the name A" Paon at 7 p.m. $3. 814-3585. -- Mike Hilleary
