Join Joshua Rothman, author of the stunning new book "The Ledger and the Chain," and the Library of Virginia’s Gregg Kimball in a virtual discussion about the rise of domestic slave trading as a grimly efficient business in the antebellum era and how its impact still reverberates today. Rothman, chair of the department of history at the University of Alabama, is the author of two prize-winning books, Flush Times and Fever Dreams and Notorious in the Neighborhood.
