A Boost for First Fridays

Regarding First Fridays on Broad Street ("Seven-Year Itch," News & Features, Oct. 10), why not include (encourage) local artists to set up on the street -- say, in front of the vacant buildings, to display (sell) their work. A small fee could be charged to support the efforts. This is done in other cities — e.g., Portland, Ore. — with great success. Connecting with places like the city's Pine Camp Arts Center could be a draw for new people. Why limit art on Broad to the galleries?
