Re: “Richmond wants to double its miles of bike lanes this year. Is that enough to keep cyclists safe?

@bikes and cars, exactly!

As a cyclist and driver, i do not obey all traffic laws. My first priority is always the safety of myself and those around me, second is having the most efficient trip possible. That means I roll through stop signs when safe, either driving or riding. It means I speed on highways, because those roadways were specifically designed for that purpose. It also means I treat empty stoplights like 4 way stops on my bike. The laws were put in place for our safety (mostly) and i feel that if they can be broken while not sacrificing that level of safety, more power to us.

Others are free to not share these views, but they should respect them. There is not one driver among us that can claim they have never broken the law. Starting with that argument is ludicrous. My real point of curiosity is why drivers take cycling practices so personally? Or maybe they are small but very loud minority?

Re: “Weekly Food Notes: the Transformation of the Old Buddy's, Alcoholic Cupcakes and More

we must be thinking of different restaurants. It was always quiet inside and the food was meh. I dont like to see things fail, but i wouldn't mind either the mill or mi jalisco to move into the larger spot.

Re: “Southern Season to Close

I agree 100% with the sentiment of the article. While SS offered many specialty items (holiday candy and bbq sauce come to mind), their staple grocery items were few and expensive. I actually really enjoyed the store but never found myself going that often due to price constraints. It didn't help that the restaurant was a flop.

I'll second the TJ's location, though it is much larger than the footprint they seem to prefer.

Re: “Architecture Review: The VCU Children’s Pavilion Looms Over East Broad Street

There is new and there is old, let us move on with the times. Not a fan of the rusty cage, but it is visually interesting and downtown needs all the parking they can get right now.

Re: “Early Bird Biscuit Co. Opens in the Fan

I second the motion to stay in Lakeside and open an additional location in the fan! Keep up the great work.
