Re: “Heavy Lifting

We visited the WA around the time of their grand opening. Whenever we try out new restaurants, we like to start with drinks and an appetizer. So, we had the cerviche appetizer, and I would agree with the reviewer, it needed some seasoning and it was way overpriced for the little bit we get (not enough to split between two people). We also split a pizza, which was good and appropriately priced. We had a real problem with the drink prices... WA has the most expensive drinks in Richmond! We paid $9 for a vodka soda, which to me, is a deal breaker. I could see paying a little more for local, fresh fish, but refuse to be taken advantage when it comes to drinks. I think restaurants need to take a look around when they are pricing their drinks. Why would i come to the WA and pay nine bucks for the same drink I could get at Shackelford's for five?

On a side note, the reviewer said that on the first visit, they were out of their signature dish and the manager gave them desert as compensation. I find this unacceptable. Why is it most restaurants think that desert makes everything better? I would appreciate it more if managers asked the customer how they can amend the situation rather than assuming desert is the answer. I'd prefer that you discount my drink before you give me cake. Just sayin'.

Re: “The Anchorman Will Retire

We don't need younger broadcasters! We need Gene! There are plenty of whipper snappers on other channels, and even on NBC 12. I always look forward to Gene's broadcasts; he is down to earth, funny, and common sense. He adds value to the show and isn't afraid to interject with a witty quip every now and then. You won't get that with a newbie; they are too worried about enunciation.
