DEEJAY GRAY is an actor, director, and teaching artist born and raised in RVA. As an infant, he played the Baby Jesus in his church's Christmas Pageant and at the age of 3, Deejay informed his mother that when he grew up, he wanted to either be a skunk, a crayon, or a radio, so living a life of creativity and eccentricity was a pretty foregone conclusion. Favorite performance credits include roles in The Glass Menagerie (Tom Wingfield) [Sycamore Rouge; Best Ensemble, Richmond Theatre Critics Circle Award Winner], Riding the Bull (GL Mitchell) [TheatreLAB; Best Actor, RTCC Award Nomination], Romeo and Juliet (Romeo), Terminating… or Ambivalence (Hendryk) [New Stage Theatre, Jackson, MS; Best Actor, Unframmy Award Nomination], The Stinky Cheese Man (Cow Patty Boy, et. al.) [Theatre IV / Virginia Rep], 8: The Play [Firehouse Theatre Project / Richmond Triangle Players], The Whale [Elder Thomas; HATTheatre], Angels in America [Louis; Richmond Triangle Players], and COCK [John; TheatreLAB]. Directing credits include Line, Proof, Ordinary People (Best Director, Actor's Playhouse Award Nomination), How I Learned to Drive (Best Director, Unframmy Award Winner), All Fall Down, The Antigone Project, Speech & Debate, GRACE [TheatreLAB], and The Quality of Life (HATTheatre; Best Play, RTCC Award Nomination). Deejay is the creator and Program Director for SPECTRUM, an LGBTQ youth outreach program from TheatreLAB and Richmond Triangle Players. Deejay was named one of Style Weekly's Top 40 Under 40 in 2013. Education: Radford University.
