Legacies, Living and Otherwise

The opening celebration for the show takes place Wednesday (April 23) from 6-8 p.m. The next day is the opening of “We Are Still Here,” an exhibit showing that the Native-American legacy is more than just empty ceremonial masks and bead necklaces. The living legacy is shown here in a series of 36 selenium-toned, gelatin-silver photographs by Carolyn DeMeritt, on view through July 20. Pictured: Tecumseh Deerfoot Cook, the former Pamunkey chief of the Pamunkey Reservation.
