"The song is about stanky, annoying bitches, and putting bugs in their hair!" exclaims Chaz Tick, lead singer — or Head Louse, as he calls himself — of the kick-ass blues punk garage band the Nervous Ticks. "Liza, our maraca player, wrote the lyrics for the refrain. We ripped off 'Rat Fink' for her vocals at the end part." This incarnation of the Nervous Ticks has been together for about a year, and offers aggressive, stripped-down, lo-fi garage rock in the vein of classic outfits the Gories and the Gun Club. The band is working on new material with an EP due out this year and playing garage rock shows as often as possible. The band lists its interests on Facebook as "rubbish, sex and speed" and listed this demo as "a loathe supreme." — Andrew Cothern

It can take a lot more than gigging to make a living in music. For one member of No BS Brass, the answer is in schools - lots of them.
