34. Thurston R. Moore

Hunton & Williams Executive Committee Chairman

For the third straight year, Thurston R. Moore checks into the list behind his counterparts at McGuireWoods. In 2011 it’s because Hunton and Williams, the powerhouse law firm whose executive committee Moore chairs, is falling behind in the total number of lawyers employed in the state — 287 to McGuireWoods’ 308, although it’s winning by 10 attorneys, 236-226, in Richmond. He is a big boy, though, and serves as president of the trustees at VMFA, Richmond’s most influential cultural institution.
