Heavy Midgets are an indie-rock four piece pregnant with buzz right now. This brand new song is a promo from their next release due out this summer. The band members include John Graham (guitar, bass and vocals), Jenn Hall (drums), Charlanne McCarthy (guitar, bass and vocals) and Ian McQuary (lead guitar). "Basically the song is about having feelings and a connection with someone but it happens to be the wrong time and the chance, if there was one, is missed," Graham says. "I wrote the lyrics like a melodramatic script, kinda. ... Something about old country and folk songs with crushing perfect matter-of-fact, nonobscured lyrics that I have been messing with." As you can hear from the song, with its rollicking indie-rock mood of dread and memorable vocals, the band has major potential. It has two other releases including "Something Terrible EP" and a split 12-inch LP with Richmond band Tungs called "Sisters" — both on Bad Grrrl Records. You can see them next at Strange Matter on May 11 with the Crypts, Herro Sugar, and Paul Ivey and the Rubes. — Brent Baldwin
