Richmond Authors To Give Local Talks on Institutional Bias

Authors Tiffany Jana and Ashley Diaz Mejias will be giving several local talks around their new book, “Erasing Institutional Bias: How To Create Systemic Change for Organizational Inclusion.” They have also secured a workshop spot at the next South by Southwest in Austin, TX held in March 2019.

According to a press release, on Friday, Oct. 26 from 6-8 pm, you can meet the authors at the Urban Hang Suite, 304 E. Broad St. “They’ll discuss the new book, giving you an idea of how to recognize structural bias and ideas of what individuals can do to become part of the solution. “All humans have bias, and as a result, so do institutions we build,” says Diaz Mejias. On Tuesday, Nov. 13 from 6:30-8 p.m., they will be at the Broad, 209 N. Foushee St, for an evening of discussion and sharing of lessons from the authors’ research. The event is free, but tickets are required. Please visit the Facebook event page to reserve your tickets.
