Remembering Sparklehorse

Richard Foster's cover story last week (“Sound and Silence”) featured Matt Linkous, brother of the late Mark Linkous of Sparklehorse, reflecting on the musician's troubled life and musical legacy (with Arts Editor Don Harrison's unpublished interview with Mark online). Several readers responded online. Here are excerpts:

As a fan of Mark and his music since Vivadixie I can only say how bummed I was when I first heard the news the day after Mark checked himself out of this place. Since, I've read many an article on the suicide but so many just repeat the same thoughtless banter. But this article was beautiful (in a sad and beautiful kind of way). It's such a heartfelt tribute to the soft-spoken troubadour with an amazingly insightful view to Mark's life from beginning to end. … I only wish I never read this because Mr. Linkous himself was still with us. — JP, April 23, 9:20 a.m.
