The Athens, Georgia, music scene of the early 1980s was quite the show. Among the best, most original bands was Pylon, blending post-punk and new wave into an angular, danceable party — not unlike the B-52s but with more edge and artfulness. This is a tribute group featuring original lead singer Vanessa Briscoe Hay surrounded by folks who know how to capture the essential spirit of Michael Stipe’s favorite band.
