PICK: “Uncommon Dogs” photography showcase at Common House, May 11

Common House social club in the arts district is going to the dogs. That’s right, there will be seven dogs to view in larger-than-life format photography throughout all four floors of the club during the launch for “Uncommon Dogs,” a photography showcase by Wendy Humble.

As the organizers’ website notes, these four-legged friends provide the best emotional support for humans when we need it the most. Donations at this event will be collected to benefit Fetch a Cure, a local nonprofit working to provide “pet cancer awareness, education and treatment funding to animals and pet parents in need” as well as Richmond Animal and Care Control (RACC), a favorite local animal shelter.

About the photographer: Style has covered Humble before, she’s a travel and documentary photographer whose work we first noticed after a photography trip she took to Cuba in 2013. She has been a featured artist at Crossroads Arts Gallery in Richmond. Full disclosure: Her photojournalist work has been featured by VPM (she also is the wife of the VPM CCO), as well as in RVAMag digital, the Valentine Museum, and the Sea of Change Foundation.

The launch party takes place on the fourth floor social hall and live music will start at 7 p.m. The event is open to the public for the launch event only, but space is capped so please RSVP at this link: https://goingson.commonhouse.com/uncommondogslaunchparty.

The “Uncommon Dogs” photography launch party is held at Common House, located at 303 W. Broad St., on Wednesday, May 11 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. RSVP needed.
