“Phantasmagoria” at Glitch Gallery

Feb. 21 - July 17.

The problem with being a tattoo artist is that your creations get up and walk away. That isn’t always a bad thing, but it makes having a gallery show next to impossible. Opening Friday at the Glitch Gallery is “Phantasmagoria,” a joint art show from Richmond tattooists Erin Chance and Chelsea Shoneck. It will feature the fantasy-based creations from both women that weren’t rendered on flesh. Their work shares a similar vision of reality-based fiction with stylized renderings of beauty and horror invoking pain and pleasure — ghoulish stuff that filters Rembrandt through the prism of Big Daddy Roth. The opening reception for “Phantasmagoria” begins at 9 p.m. The exhibit is on view till July 17. glitchgalleryrva.com.
