Overcoming Kilpatrick

Growing up in apartheid Richmond I well recall the bigoted racial atmosphere to which my own mind and soul was subjected, and in which James Kilpatrick had a heavy hand (“Poisoned Pen,” Back Page, Aug. 25). The damage was done. And the only way I manage to rise above those shadows of bigotry is to remain vigilant in reason, fair play and justice for all.

Kilpatrick's continued employment at News Leader says much about those who were in ownership, and leadership of Richmond, and of Virginia. Changing my venue to California helped me greatly. Thanks for being a breath of fresh air and telling it like it was and still is to this day.
