I am happy to see that other people are noticing River City Renaissance’s antics in and around the Fan District (“Paved Over,” News & Features, June 27).
For over two years they have failed to provide enough trash containers for their tenants. Why they are not required to get Dumpsters I do not know. Most Fridays through Wednesdays (collection day) we are constantly picking up trash that has blown out of their overfilled Super Cans. Of course, some of this could be blamed on the daily Dumpster divers. If the refuse was properly containerized, it would not be a problem.
Then there are the exterior building issues, such as broken window frames, loose bricks, trash on porches, and tenants tell me mold and mildew are problems inside.
However, they may be entitled to a tacky award. Their house at Monument and the Boulevard stands out like a sore thumb. If you have ever observed it during any holiday season, you may agree. I think I would rather have neighbors who live in a double-wide, as that is what it reminds me of.
There is nothing historical or preservationist about them.
