Hip-hop original Doug E. Fresh, of “The Show” and “La Di Da Di” fame, will be headlining the nonprofit Richmond Performing Arts Alliance (RPAA)’s annual gala and benefit concert.
Titled “Alternate Routes: A Night in NYC” the old school hip-hop party will be held on Thursday, Nov. 3 at Dominion Energy Center, and proceeds will benefit RPAA’s BrightLights Education initiatives, which “aims to serve educators, students, and families from across the Richmond region, working to increase equity in access to the arts and arts in education.”
According to a press release, “gala guests will experience a moveable feast and performances by local artists and arts organizations throughout the venues of Dominion Energy Center (Rhythm Hall, Libby S. Gottwald Playhouse, and Genworth BrightLights Education Center). After a main stage performance by the legendary Doug E. Fresh in the historic Carpenter Theatre, guests will conclude their evening with a dessert reception in Rhythm Hall featuring live entertainment. The event also features a silent auction.”
