They “asked if they could see our men’s bathroom,” she says. “They thought it’d be funny to have these two guys being handcuffed — with one of them having to use the bathroom.”
It was fate: Producers said the men’s bathroom was the perfect location for their stunt, and told Harr the cast and crew of “Viva La Bam” — a spinoff series of MTV’s “Jackass” — would arrive in the afternoon.
“I got the waitresses together before we opened, and I said, ‘Don’t ask me for any more than what I’m going to tell you,'” she says. Many of the wait staff working that day were fans of the show.
The lunch crowd was packing in at 1 p.m. when the rotund, marble-mouthed Vincent “Don Vito” Margera — the butt of the joke — was pulled into the restaurant, handcuffed to another cast member. “Don Vito,” Bam Margera’s uncle, often finds himself in some not-so-appealing situations.
“They used our bathroom and handcuffed Don Vito to the toilet,” says server Michelle Bethany. “Half the people in our restaurant didn’t know who they were.”
They were really quiet so a lot of people didn’t know what was going on — even with a crew of 10 to 12 and fellow cast members that included Ryan Dunn and Rake Yohn — Bethany says of the lunch crowd. Extra Billy’s seats as many as 225 diners.
Harr says the Bam boys were really nice and worked the crowd once filming had finished. Cast members signed autographs for the staff, but couldn’t hang around too long.
“They were in a big hurry,” Harr says.
They left most of the staff a little star-struck, Bethany says.
