It started with a non-Christmas Carol. The furor over Carol Piersol’s resignation as artistic director of the Firehouse Theatre Project sucked the air out of the local theater scene. Founders of arts organizations must move on at some point, but the effort to get Piersol to retire seems to have gone wrong in almost every way possible. The controversy split the relatively small theater community into factions. Strong words were said and retracted over social media.
