Assuming the sideshow debris from last month’s show is a thing of the past, Gallery5’s next exhibition, “Mending Fences,” a collection of Russian art, should go pretty smoothly. A project involving the Russian and Belarusian embassies, D.C.’s Eurasia Center, the Lazare Gallery and a lot of other folks who can bust out the Cyrillic alphabet, the show brings in more than 60 artists from the former “Over There,” like “St. Sebastian Shooting Range” by Roman Trofimov above, as well as photography by Yuri Gripas. The month of events kicks off with a screening of film and photography by the Belarusian ambassador Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. and continues with the First Friday opening Nov. 3, 7-11 p.m., with a performance by D.C.’s Slavic Male Chorus.
