Wilson sang in the chorus for the Richmond Ballet’s “The Nutcracker” and was cast in the Holocaust-themed opera, “Brundibar” by Hans Krasa. Her featured role in the opera involves both singing and speaking. She credits Children’s Choir director Hope Armstrong Erb for many of the successes she’s had so far. Erb says that Molly has risen to the top of the choir through her strong drive andÿsight-reading ability and that she’s “clonable material,” because she’s always giving her best to the work and to performances while maintaining an upbeat and highlyÿresponsible attitude.
In addition to her opera role, Wilson and the Greater Richmond Children’s Choir will travel to Los Angeles next month to sing for a national convention of the American Choral Directors Association. “This is one of the biggest honors a choir can receive,” she says. “Music is such a huge part of our culture and has been since the beginning of time, and I think it really touches people in a way that other stuff doesn’t.”
What’s next: She will perform the role of Annette in the opera “Brundibar” by Hans Krasa, to be presented Feb. 26-27 at the Virginia Holocaust Museum. — Deveron Timberlake
