Formed in Sacramento, Calif., in 2006, indie-rock Middle Class Rut, also known as MC Rut, drew major attention when its single, “New Low,” began receiving radio play, which led to a national tour and had the duo opening for the likes of Social Distortion, Alice in Chains and My Chemical Romance. After several EPs, in 2010 Middle Class Rut released its full-length debut, “No Name No Color,” which quickly rose on the Billboard charts. The group’s second album, “Pick Up Your Head,” came out June 25 and already is receiving praise from fans and critics alike because of its catchy lead single, “Aunt Betty.” Middle Class Rut performs with American Fangs and Daylight Burning at the Canal Club on Monday, July 8, at 6:30 p.m. $12-$14. thecanalclub.com.
