Peopled with demeaning stereotypes of every ilk — from Arabs who are evil, foul-smelling towel-heads to women who are “blond bombshells” with “36D headlights” — “The Color of Demons” staggers from one ludicrous plot twist to the next. The writing is so weighted down with clichés and stilted dialogue that even readers who are not offended by the views espoused in the book will be hard-pressed to make the long trudge through all 319 pages. At best, “The Color of Demons” stands as an example of the potential danger of self-publishing in which the possibility of a painful, but in this case appropriate, rejection letter is circumvented by the authors. — Mary Mullins
