Maggie Ingram and the Ingramettes at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts

Friday, Feb. 6

One of my go-to recordings these days is “Live in Richmond” by Maggie Ingram and the Ingramettes. I put it on when I need to remember that life is awesome — and the CD never fails to do the trick. Recorded live at the Fifth Baptist Church, it’s a traditional gospel goose-bump-maker. On Friday, Feb. 6, Richmond’s undisputed queen of gospel brings the power of belief to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. With three generations of the Ingrams performing on one stage, the 85-year-old singer and her family are stunning performers. Even though the matriarch suffers from Alzheimer’s disease, she still knows the words to these songs of faith. The touching of the face of God begins at 6 p.m. Free.
