Lucero’s brand of punk- and country-infused rock made it a hit on the Memphis, Tenn.-music scene. Fourteen years later, the band is still going strong while it explores new ways of incorporating new instruments, including horns, pedal-steel guitar and keyboards into its trademark sound. Since 2001 the group played nonstop shows across North America, opening for groups such as Social Distortion, but still had its hometown on the Mississippi on its heart. The group’s latest album, “Women & Work,” has been called a love letter to the city. Front man Ben Nichols also co-starred in the MTV Web series “$5 Cover,” which depicts up-and-coming musicians trying to make a living in the Memphis music scene. Lucero performs at the Epic Theatre at Hat Factory on Thursday, April 26, at 8 p.m. $15-$18. 788-4281.
