The low-ebb, modern chamber folk of Lobo Marino is always looking for new kicks. The widely traveled Richmond duo employs a ruminative approach to sound with a mellifluous blend of chants, tribalism and subdued, world-music inspirations. Antique Animals of Jacksonville, Fla., are less concerned with extramundane pursuits. They live in the rock-tinged Americana moment playing tunes best suited for physical release not too dissimilar from kindred spirits Beirut, Arcade Fire and Junip. Richmond’s Swamp Trees live in the same headspace as Lobo Marino, but are more literal in their lilting meditations. The trio’s release, “Ghost of Greenwood Manor” is full of twilight contemplations using acoustic guitars, banjos and accordions to highlight and accentuate the disarming beauty of Julie Storey’s rustic voice. All three contemporary folk makers play Friday, March 21, at Hardywood Park Craft Brewery. The music starts at 5 p.m. Free. hardywood.com.
