I am extremely dismayed, disappointed, and shocked at the support that Joe Morrissey is still receiving from some of his constituents in the 74th House of Delegates district.

I understand that “Fightin’ Joe” and his reputation for “fighting for you” has been a slogan of his for years. However, now it is time to send the message to him that his lack of common sense, judgment and ethics no longer belongs in the House of Delegates. His latest legal escapade has gone too far. After his misdemeanor conviction of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, absolutely no woman in her right mind should still be supporting him.

There is no possible way Mr. Morrissey will be effective as a delegate. Neither party is willing to work with him, and he will be virtually ignored. How can he possibly do any good for any constituent when no one will hear him? The Republicans have had it with him. Democratic leadership has spoken out against him. He knows that he will not be able to get anything accomplished, which is why he hasn’t talked about issues or policies this go-round. He is strictly on a vindictive mission to save Fightin’ Joe and those who he believes have crossed him.

It’s time for new leadership in the 74th, and there’s an extremely capable and viable candidate in Kevin Sullivan. He will bring integrity to the district and experience in working for the middle. He will be a leader in fighting for increasing the minimum wage, expanding Medicaid, making college affordable and accessible for all, voting rights, and, above all, ethics. He is ready to roll up his sleeves and get to work immediately on Jan. 14. Please elect Kevin Sullivan in the special election Jan. 13. It’s time to show Joe Morrissey that integrity matters.
