LETTER: Attack on Guard Raises Concerns

It’s a sad day in Richmond when we can’t even protect one of our security guards. The mayor has no right to tie up police officers with his overpriced security detail so they can drive him to lunch. Muggers continue to run rampant in the city with the average of one a week on the Virginia Commonwealth University campus. They have ruined First Fridays Art Walk.

Wake up and smell the coffee, mayor. No one in their right mind will go to Shockoe Bottom or downtown for a ballgame or anything else until this problem is resolved. The very fact that the mayor himself feels the need for this level of protection is a statement in and of itself.
