Fresh off the heels of its second Grammy nomination, Richmond heavy metal icon Lamb of God has written a new song (with an as-yet-unreleased title) that will be available only in the “Iron Man 2” video game.
Lamb of God worked with developers SEGA of America on the game, licensed through Marvel Entertainment, which, in one of those weird coincidences common to showbiz, is owned by the Walt Disney Co.
Could this lead to other marketing crossover opportunities with the House of Mouse? A duet between Miley Cyrus and Lamb of God singer Randy Blythe?
“I think Mark Morton would shred ‘It's a Small World,'” jokes Lamb of God spokeswoman Rikki Zazula.
OK, so maybe Lamb of God isn't exactly heading down the Jonas Brothers' path. But releasing a track for a video game about Marvel Comics' Iron Man isn't out of character either; the band's songs already are available in versions of the popular “Rock Band” and “Guitar Hero” games and some of the band members are hardcore gamers and avid comic book fans.
As Lamb of God drummer Chris Adler puts it, “We can't wait to play the game and hear our music as Iron Man kicks ass!”
