Koffin Kats, U.S. Brass and the Hellhounds at Wonderland

Saturday, Feb. 1. 9 p.m.

The Koffin Kats have a Misfits hangover. From their obsession with the ghoulish to the heavily mannered Elvis Presley crooning of bassist and lead vocalist Vic Victor, the mutated rockabilly of the Detroit trio gets much of its creepy crawl from the progenitors of American horror punk. Where the two bands differ is that the Koffin Kats are more Eddie Cochran than Ramones with a Brian Setzer sense of riff-based melodies. Their tunes are quintessential psycho-billy. Played with guts and glory honed from their years of nonstop touring, the Koffin Kats are the hardest working, B-movie horror band in the land, and if you have records by the Cramps, Hasil Adkins or the Reverend Horton Heat in your collection, be sure to check these guys out. They’ll be your next favorite band. The Koffin Kats play Saturday, Feb. 1, at Wonderland with the kindred spirits U.S. Brass and the Hellhounds. Doors open at 9 p.m. Tickets are $10. 643-9233.
