Kamasi Washington and Butcher Brown at the National

Wednesday, Nov. 14

Is there anyone lately who has done more to bring jazz to younger listeners than Kamasi Washington? The tenor saxophonist, composer, producer and bandleader from Los Angeles has played with people as varied as Snoop Dogg, Herbie Hancock and Kendrick Lamar. After an acclaimed debut album, he released “Heaven and Earth” last June, filled with even more sonic exploration. He’ll be joined by Richmond’s own acclaimed jazz funk jammers, Butcher Brown, which just released “Camden Session” in October, continuing to showcase fluid, collective grooves. 7:30 p.m. $39.50 to $43.50. thenationalva.com.
