Known for emotionally intense shows, John Maus makes what has been called goth pop marked by his deep baritone vocals. He’s also a former teacher of philosophy at the University of Hawaii (and a former roommate of Ariel Pink) and his modular, synth-heavy “Screen Memories” was one of the best albums of 2017 with its apocalyptic vibe and retro-futuristic new wave anthems. On this tour he’ll be performing solo with opener Nick Nicely, a little-known British musician who recorded psychedelic and experimental singles since the 1980s.
