Jingle Bells, Why Can’t You Be More Like These Guys?

Oh the holiday music has already worn itself right out, so the “sacred steel” sound, church music all afire, is, pardon the expression, a godsend. The Lee Boys from Florida have mastered the funky hallelujah. This isn’t “We Three Kings” out in the cold. It’s foot-stamping, bluesy, deep twang rattling the wooden sides of the chapel. Then there are the inspired howls and chants, the summoning of the spirit within the spiritual. The Lee Boys master country swing and dispel notions of quiet contemplation; rather, they’re seeking movement, energy, the holy hip-shake that starts with a pedal steel guitar. They play Alley Katz Saturday, Dec. 2, with Jahvaquarium, 9 p.m.-2 a.m. Tickets are $12-$15. 643-2816. S
