The laws of physics make it impossible to be in multiple places at once — that is, unless you're Jessica Braum.

Key to her plan seems to be efficiency, organization and creativity. Take the one-day street festival featuring 50 restaurants, growers, artisans, bands and about 20,000 visitors. This is what the popular food festival, Broad AppActit, has grown into, and it's what event planner Braum puts on her plate for a few months out of the year. She helped bring the event, a first of its kind for Richmond, to town in 2008. The festival even scored a mention in Time magazine and the Washingtonian.

The seemingly tireless Braum threads her business skills, time and energy into multiple nonprofits and boards, all the while co-owning and operating Echelon Event Management, a company that specializes in creating and managing events for a multitude of local and national organizations.

In addition to devoting her attention and knowledge to Fetch a Cure, the Susan G. Komen Foundation, as well as the St. Gertrude High School and the Virginia Commonwealth University alumni boards, Braum is a marathon runner who races for good causes.

“A lot of people, regardless of age, just don't do enough for their communities,” Braum says. “I'm just glad to be able to give my time to a good cause.”

Where she finds the time is still a mystery to us.
